5 Day Tour of Northern Ireland

Sample 5 Day Tour of Northern Ireland

We were asked to design a short Northern Ireland tour for clients who wanted to visit Ireland in January 2020 following a business trip in the south of England. The client, a US Naval officer with a keen interest in maritime history expressed an interest in the Titanic Experience, Belfast. We were able to put together an itinerary that not only met but exceeded their expectations.

See below some of their tour highlights.

Day 1

Arrival Dublin Airport

After meeting you in Dublin airport we make our way directly to Belfast for your first visit – The Titanic Centre. This experience allows you to step back in time and learn about the thriving industries and exciting design innovations that led to the creation of RMS Titanic, the largest and most luxurious ship in the world. Pass through the original gates to continue the journey to the Shipyard and the dark ride that uses special effects, animations and full-scale reconstructions to recreate the reality of shipbuilding in the early 1900s.

Day 2

This morning we tour the spectacular North East Antrim Coastal Causeway Route, stopping frequently along the way for photographs arriving at the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge at approximately 12 noon.

Following our rope bridge adventure, we will travel the short distance to the Fullarton Arms pub, Ballintoy where we can stop for lunch. Ballintoy, a filming location in The Game of Thrones, the pub features one of only 10 of the famous Game of Thrones doors. The doors were made from trees of the famous Dark Hedges (better known to Game of Thrones® fans as the ‘Kingsroad’) that fell during storm Gertrude.

Our highlight this afternoon is a visit to World Heritage Site, the Giants Causeway, an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption.
This evening check-in to your hotel suite which overlooks the Irish sea and the Portrush Championship Golf links.

Day 3

Northern Coastal Route to Derry

Following breakfast we tour the Northern Coastal route, via the Dark Hedges trees which featured in the HBO Game of Thrones tv series. Arriving into Londonderry city around lunch time, a local city walking guide will take you on a detailed impartial tour of the historic and political aspects of the city.

Tonight you’ll stay in the Ship Quay Hotel which is located within the mediaeval city walls of Derry.

Day 4

We depart Derry and return to Belfast for a city tour and lunch before making our way to Dublin. Following a panoramic tour of the city, taking in many of Dublin’s highlights, you check-in to your boutique city centre hotel.

This evening you are free to explore the city and enjoy dinner in one of Dublin’s many restaurants.

Day 5

Following a good hearty Irish breakfast you transfer to Dublin airport and bid farewell to your driver guide.
